Our Early Assurance in Master's Entry to Practice secures placement for interested high school seniors and transfer students in our master's degree program in nursing upon completion of their undergraduate studies.
Early assurance programs let you lock down your seat in a master's degree program as an incoming freshman or transfer student provided you maintain good standing in the undergraduate program and meet the graduate program's academic admission requirements.
Current St. Bonaventure undergraduate students and alumni, members of the Seneca Nation, armed forces veterans, and people who live or work in Cattaraugus, Allegany, Chautauqua, McKean and Potter counties are eligible for the Bona Advantage, which guarantees qualified applicants will receive an interview and have their NursingCAS application fee waived.
To receive the Bona Advantage, qualified applicants must indicate that they intend to apply to the MEP program by Sept. 1 of the year prior to their desired spring entrance.
To be eligible for the MEP Bona Advantage program, applicants must:
- obtain a 3.0 GPA in their undergraduate education
- obtain a C or above on all prerequisite courses
- take all prerequisite courses required of the program
- have a student record free from any academic or disciplinary issues
- apply to the program through the Centralized Application Service for Nursing (NursingCAS) by Sept. 1 of the year prior to their desired spring entrance.
Meeting the above requirements will ensure that the student is given an interview for admission to the program, which is very advantageous to the applicant. Admission to the MEP program will be granted if a student has a successful interview.
The Bona Advantage also covers the cost of the NursingCAS application fee. To receive a voucher prior to applying to NursingCAS,
send an email indicating how you qualify for the above listed criteria.
Applicants to the Master's Entry to Practice program must submit the following:
1. Transcripts from all colleges/universities previously attended.
2. Evidence of having earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a minimum cumulative college GPA of 3.0.
3. Record of having completed these prerequisite courses: anatomy, microbiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, life span development, statistics and sociology.
4. One letter of recommendation attesting to personal ability to undertake the rigors associated with a future career in health care.
Students will be conditionally accepted into the MEP program until all required documents and records, including health records, are received.
When applying for admission to St. Bonaventure, applicants should indicate, under the “Early Assurance” question, that they wish to apply for an early assurance program.
If you are a current student considering the benefits of participating in an early assurance program, please
